Eligibility

Our fellowships are open to MVP-stage impact-driven founders. 

Halcyon defines “impact-driven” as a for-profit, scalable company where impact forms a non-negotiable part of the business model. The startup’s impact drives meaningful and measurable progress towards one (or several) of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). 

“MVP-stage” is defined as having a workable, or saleable version of your business concept.

Important Update: Halcyon’s New Two-Step Application Process

Halcyon is evolving our application process to make it more accessible, flexible, and open year-round. We’ve moved to a two-step model designed to give ventures the opportunity to apply at any time, while still ensuring a thoughtful and thorough review.

How it works:

  •  You can now submit our Eligibility Application at any time during the year (Step 1).
  •  Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
  •  When a fellowship program opens that aligns with your venture, and if your eligibility application meets our criteria, we will reach out and invite you to complete the Invitational Application (Step 2).

If your venture is not selected in Step 1, unfortunately, that means it is not a fit for any Halcyon fellowship. You can review our eligibility criteria here: View Eligibility Requirements.

Please note:

  •  The Eligibility Application can only be submitted once.
  •  Duplicate applications will be automatically rejected.  

Step 1: Eligibility Application

  •  A short form open year-round to help us quickly determine if your venture is a fit for Halcyon’s programs.
  •  You’ll answer basic questions about your venture’s mission, stage, and impact focus.
  •  Reviewed on a rolling basis.  

Step 2: Invitational Application (By Invitation Only)

  •  If your eligibility application meets our criteria, you’ll be invited to complete our invitational application when a fellowship program opens that aligns with your venture.
  •  This in-depth form allows us to learn more about your team, innovation, scalability, impact, and vision for growth.
  •  Only open to those invited from Step 1.

Halcyon’s application is an opportunity for the selection committee to learn more about you, your venture, and your vision for impact. The committee reviews each application using Halcyon’s four criteria: Impact, Scalability, Innovation, and Talent.

It is now required to upload a Pitch Deck of up to 15 slides. You may also upload a 1 minute video describing your venture. This is a wonderful way to bring your application to life and showcase your passion! At Halcyon we love supporting founders with a clear vision, strong ambition, and the drive to create dramatic positive influence.

Our fellowships are open to for-profit impact-driven founders at or beyond MVP-Stage. Additional information is listed below under “Programs and Format”.

Halcyon defines “impact-driven” as a scalable company where impact forms a non-negotiable part of the business model. The startup’s impact drives meaningful and measurable progress towards one (or several) of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). 

“MVP-stage” is defined as having a workable, or saleable version of your business concept. 

Benefits Halcyon Fellows receive training in: Investment Readiness, Product-Market Fit, and Leadership Development. Selected fellows also receive other program-specific benefits, including an $5,000 equity-free stipend, $10,000 in AWS credits, professional advisors, network opportunities to meet investors and diverse stakeholders in the US.

Halcyon’s Fellowships for startups are free, with no fee or equity stake required.

Halcyon is accepting applications for the following fellowship:

Climate Innovation in Mexico Fellowship  is open to founders from Mexico who are developing a for-profit venture addressing climate adaptation, and resilience. Subsectors include:

  • Renewable Energy Generation and Storage 
  • Green Building Technologies
  • Climate Data and Analytics 
  • Climate Smart Agriculture and Food Systems 
  • WaterTech 
  • Blue Economy 

Programming is delivered in a hybrid format:

  • Virtual Kickoff Meeting: May 12th, 2026
  • Virtual Monthly Meetings: July 9th, August 6th, August 19th, September 10th, 2026
  • First In-person Residency in Mexico: May 29th - June 5th, 2026
  • Second In-person Residency in Mexico: October 23rd - October 30th, 2026
